CrossFit is a very good way to get into shape and it should be done consistently in order to see improvement over time. But how often should you do it? Is it too much to workout every day of the week? Or is it not enough if you only workout for 3 days per week? You’re about to find out all the answers to these questions.
The time you put into CrossFit training is very important as you will grow and improve with each workout you complete. However, this does not mean that if you do workouts for 4 hours a day, 7 times a week that you will get the physique you want in no time. If you overdo your workouts and sessions from the start, you will only accomplish burning yourself out. On the other end of the spectrum, if you only do a workout one day a week, you may never see the results you want.
The importance of rest
There is a reason that working out every day of the week will bring diminishing returns to your progress. The fact is that resting is just as important as your actual workout. When your body does not have enough time to recover from a workout, you will only be working overtime while benefiting little from it. The process of building muscle includes the tearing of muscle fibers during a workout and your body rebuilding those muscle fibers slightly stronger. If you do not rest enough, the rebuilding process cannot be maximized. Your muscles need to rest between workouts so that they can grow stronger.
How many days a week should you do CrossFit
If you are just starting to do CrossFit, you should try to work out at least 3-4 times a week, as this will keep your workouts consistent and allow you to have several rest days in between your workouts. Working out 3-4 times a week can also keep you motivated as you will not be so tired from a workout every day that you will burn yourself out. Working out every day of the week is not only physically tiring but also mentally strenuous. When you have no days to rest, and if you happen to miss one day, you are likely to completely give up since you feel you have failed your goal.
